These sourdough, whole wheat, sugar cookies are easy to make and delicious. The dough does not need to be chilled as they are easy to work with and they keep their shape well in the oven. This is a fun activity to involve the whole family in.

Sourdough, Whole Wheat, Einkorn, Sugar Cookies

These whole wheat, sourdough sugar cookies make a great treat for any occasion, and go great with a butter cream frosting.

Ingredients
  

  • 1/2 cup Sourdough Leaven
  • 1 cup Melted Butter
  • 1/2 cup Honey or Maple Syrup
  • 2 Eggs
  • 2 tsp Real Vanilla Extract
  • 5 1/4 cups Whole Wheat Einkorn Flour

Method
 

  1. Put all ingredients in a large bowl and mix to combine.
  2. Place cloth over the bowl of dough and allow to ferment for at least an hour and a half, to receive the full benefits of the sourdough.
  3. Just before rolling out the dough, preheat your oven to 350°.
  4. After the dough has fermented for at least an hour and a half, roll the cookie dough out on a lightly floured surface.
  5. Cut the rolled out dough into shapes and place cutouts on a buttered baking sheet.
  6. Put baking sheets into oven and bake for 6-12 minutes.
