For Every Pest There are 1700 beneficials. Imagine what would happen if we started encouraging more beneficials?
In order to encourage even more beneficials onto our farm this summer, we are planning to plant an acre of wild flowers behind our house, along the road. One of our customers recommended this mix and said that her bees did really well last summer. I’m convinced that it will be good for pollinators and helpful insects, and birds as well. I am planning to add even more native species to our gardens, yard, and pasture. As we have added more diversity to our land and grown more open pollinated plants, we have witnessed an increase in beneficials, but we still have a lot of work to do. Since bees prefer native species of plants over hybrids or genetically modified plants, we hope to keep our bees busy on our chemical free land this growing season. Praise the Lord all three of our treatment free hives are still alive as of today! We were so excited to see them bringing in pollen yesterday. When you drive by or stop by or place this summer, hopefully you will get to observe a lot of beautiful flowers, unique birds, and pollinators.
Have you witnessed a decline in beneficials? We love to hear from you!!
