One of our family traditions for New Year’s Eve on our farm is to have a fun snack and play games after chores and an early supper. One game we may play again this New Year’s Eve is a game we made up for Christmas last week. We had a lot of fun with this, along with a lot of laughs. Even the little ones participated with some help from an older child.
We started by each writing 10 questions and 5 bonus cards on paper. We mixed all of these cards together, and then we all took turns drawing one card and then reading the question or bonus card to ourselves. After we came up with our answer or plan, we would read the question out loud and the first person to guess the answer correctly would get the card. If we drew a bonus card, we would simply follow the instructions on the card and someone would earn that card. After all the cards were gone, the person with the most wins. It was fun to see what kind of questions and bonuses people thought of, and especially fun when your own question was read.
Here are some examples of our questions.
What am I most afraid of?
What is the first thing I do every morning?
What two fruits do I like to combine the most?
What was/is my favorite subject in school?
What do I do when I’m nervous?
Bonus Cards
Walk around the room and stop in front of each person for five seconds. Keep a straight face. If someone makes you laugh, they get to keep the card, otherwise you keep it.
Think of a Christmas song. Using a whiteboard, quickly draw a symbol from the song. Whoever guesses the song first gets the card.
Sit down as everyone in the room struts past you. If you don’t laugh, you keep the card. Otherwise whoever made you laugh gets the card.
