“A newly published UC Davis research paper pinpoints what could be “the missing link” in why some CO VID-19 patients recover and some don’t.” Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome or ARDS, characterized by fluid build-up in the lungs, is the “Second leading cause of death in COVID-19 patients, next to viral pneumonia, according to the National Center for Biotechnology Information.” “Recent data indicate a role of dysregulated lipid profiles in CO VID-19 and identified cytochrome P450 (CYP) metabolites of polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA) as potential biomarkers of disease severity.” In other words, a high amount of polyunsaturated fat intake could be to blame.
With the addition of vegetable oils to our modern diet, our intake of polyunsaturated fats has increased significantly. The Weston Price website states that when Dr. Price was studying people groups that were untouched by our modern foods, “Total fat content of traditional diets varied from 30 percent to 80 percent of calories but only about 4 percent of calories came from polyunsaturated oils naturally occurring in grains, legumes, nuts, fish, animal fats and vegetables. The balance of fat calories was in the form of saturated and monounsaturated fatty acids.” The people groups that Price studied had superior health compared to the people groups he studied that were eating the modern diet like so many of us Americans eat today. If you haven’t studied the work of Doctor Weston Price, a dentist that did a lot of research on people groups untouched by our highly industrialized, modern food, then I highly recommend looking into him. I also recommend digging deep into the research that led us down the path of encouraging polyunsaturated fats. You will discover that there are many lies being told.
We threw out our polyunsaturated fats years ago, and I’m so glad we did. I used to use Crisco, margarine, corn oil, and vegetable oil (which is not from vegetables). Our family now enjoys using traditional oils like coconut oil, lard, butter, tallow, and olive oil. As we follow a more traditional way of feeding ourselves and caring for our animals and land, we continue to see improvement in our health and energy. Besides a loss of smell and the fact that we were a little tired, Co vid for our family was barely noticeable. I can only say praise the Lord. Have you stopped using polyunsaturated fats? Those oils that are so hard to avoid, because they are in everything. How do you do it? We love to hear from you!
