Age Slower

Most people are aware that there are things we can do to age faster, but many folks don’t think about what they are eating or putting on their skin as a factor in this. My husband is 50, and I’m almost 45, and we started our marriage with a highly processed diet and had many bad habits, but we are thankful that all of that has changed, praise the Lord.

You could still call us rebels in this modern culture. He and I like to soak up the sun, eat lots of fat like native pecans, sour cream, ice cream, eggs, tallow, and butter. We eat grain-free beef and lamb. We avoid seed oils and margarine and eat very little olive oil, (which is mostly adulterated) and fruits don’t cover half our plates. We grow most of our food and make everything from scratch.

Many people wonder, “Why would you want to go to all that work growing and preparing your food? You must spend all day in the kitchen.” While we don’t spend all day in the kitchen, we definitely find the extra work worth it. We love having the energy and vitality to do the work God has called us to do, and while we enjoy working hard, we enjoy playing hard even more.

You may find us playing a physical game in the front yard on a Friday evening or see Cory sprinting through the pasture chasing cows and sheep. We also enjoy hiking, biking, canoeing, and our favorite activity is taking long walks. We had a blast last summer renting a boat and tubing with our kids. Being 8 months pregnant and Cory’s fear of the deep water didn’t stop us from getting on the tube (not sure we will get Cory back on, and don’t worry the kids took it slow so we wouldn’t hurt the baby). We hope to keep going and doing as much as we can until the Lord takes us home, and that is one reason we eat a beyond organic, nutrient dense, traditional diet every day.

I want this for you too! What are some things you do to stay young? We love to hear from you!
