Our family made up this game a few years ago to play at our Christmas. We had so much fun that we have played it several times with other families that we had over to our farm. Everyone has said they really enjoyed playing it and one family even went home and made up their own version of it. It’s great for building relationships, getting to know other people, and the laughter it brings is good for all of us. We especially love playing it on the holidays. The fact that all ages can participate is the best part. So often you find the men visiting in one area, the women in another, and kids off playing and possibly causing trouble. This game brings everyone together! Let’s encourage family togetherness.
We played this game on Thanksgiving with several families that didn’t know each other very well and had a blast. One of the funniest questions was when Asher (age 10) was given the challenge to, “Walk around the room and stop in front of each person for five seconds, keep a straight face, and if someone makes you laugh, they get the card otherwise you keep it.” He kept a straight face until he got to my friend Becky. Once she started speaking to him in Spanish, he couldn’t help but laugh.
You can simply copy these questions and challenge cards, paste them onto something like Microsoft Word, print them off, and cut them out. I increased the size of the print to make them easier to see. We placed them in a Ziplock bag to store them in. To play the game you have one person draw a piece of paper, read it to themselves, come up with the answer, and then read it out loud to everyone. If it’s a question, whoever get’s it right, gets to keep the question. If it’s a challenge, you simply follow the instructions of the card. You go around the room as many times as you would like and whoever has the most pieces of paper in the end is the winner. If someone is not comfortable with a question/challenge we let them put it back and pick another one. Here are the questions below.
